Life is constantly about overcoming challenges

A man found a cocoon of a butterfly. One day a small opening appeared. He sat and watched the butterfly for several hours as it struggled to force its body through that little hole. Then it seemed to stop making any progress. It appeared as if it had gotten as far as it could, and it could go no further.

So the man decided to help the butterfly. He took a pair of scissors and snipped off the remaining bit of the cocoon. The butterfly then emerged easily. But it had a swollen body and small, shriveled wings.

The man continued to watch the butterfly because he expected that, at any moment, the wings would enlarge and expand to be able to support the body, which would contract in time. Neither happened! In fact, the butterfly spent the rest of its life crawling around with a swollen body and shriveled wings. It never was able to fly.

What the man, in his kindness and haste, did not understand was that the restricting cocoon and the struggle required for the butterfly to get through the tiny opening were God's way of forcing fluid from the body of the butterfly into its wings so that it would be ready for flight once it achieved its freedom from the cocoon.

Sometimes struggles are exactly what we need in our lives. If God allowed us to go through our lives without any obstacles, it would cripple us. We would not be as strong as what we could have been. We could never fly! 

 The moral of this story is that when the going gets tough, the tough gets going. Nothing in life is always smooth-sailing nor goes according to plan, hardships are there to mould us into stronger individuals. Life is constantly about overcoming challenges, it’s only through tough times that we become more resilient.

जिन्दगी में सीखने कि लिए सदैव तत्पर रहना चाहिये.

एक ट्रक ड्राइवर अपने सामान डिलेवरी करने के लिए मेंटल हॉस्पिटल गया. सामान डिलेवरी के पश्चात वापस लौटते समय उसने देखा कि उसके ट्रक का एक पहिया पंचर हो गया. ड्राइवर ने स्टेपनी निकाल कर पहिया खोला पर गलती से उसके हाथ से पहिये कसने के चारों बोल्ट पास की गहरी नाली में गिर गए जहाँ से निकालना संभव न था. अब ड्राइवर बहुत ही परेशान हो गया कि वापस कैसे जाए.
इतने में पास से मेंटल हॉस्पिटल का एक मरीज गुजरा. उसने ड्राइवर से कि क्या बात है. ड्राइवर ने मरीज को बहुत ही हिकारत से देखते हुए सोच कि यह पागल क्या कर लेगा. फिर भी उसने मरीज को पूरी बात बता दी.
मरीज ने ड्राइवर के ऊपर हँसते हुए कहा कि तुम इतनी छोटी समस्या का समाधान भी नहीं कर सकते हो और इसीलिये तुम ड्राइवर ही हो.
ड्राइवर को एक पागलपन के मरीज से इस प्रकार का संबोधन अच्छा नहीं लगा और उसने मरीज से चेतावनी भरे शब्दों में पूछा कि तुम क्या कर सकते हो?
मरीज ने जवाब दियाकि बहुत ही साधारण बात है. बाकी के तीन पहियों से एक एक बोल्ट निकाल कर पहिया कस लो और फिर नजदीक की ऑटो परत की दुकान के पास जाकर नए बोल्ट खरीद लो.
ड्राइवर इस सुझाव से बहुत ही प्रभावित हुआ और उसने मरीज से पूछा कि तुम इतने बुद्धिमान हो फिर इस हॉस्पिटल में क्यों हो?
मरीज ने जवाब दिया कि, "मैं सनकी हूँ पर मूर्ख नहीं."
कोई आश्चर्य की बात नहीं कि कुछ लोग ट्रक ड्राइवर की तरह व्यवहार करते हैं, सोचते हैं कि दूसरे लोग मूर्ख हैं. अतः हम सब ज्ञानी और पढ़ें लिखे हैं, पर निरीक्षण करें कि हमारे आस् पास इस प्रकार के सनकी व्यक्ति भी रहते हैं जिनसे ढेर सारे व्यावहारिक जीवन के नुस्खे मिल सकते हैं और जो हमारी बुद्धिमत्ता को ललकारते रहेंगे.
कहानी से सीख : कभी भी यह न सोचे कि आपको सब कुछ आता है और दूसरे लोगों को उनके बाहरी आवरण / दिखावट के आधार पर उनके ज्ञान का अंदाज़ न लगाये.

अभिव्यक्ति की स्वतंत्रता' राष्ट्र हित से बड़ा नहीं

जवाहर लाल नेहरू एवं जाधवपुर विश्वविद्यालयों जैसे देश के प्रतिष्ठित शिक्षण संस्थानों में जिस तरह पिछले कुछ दिनों से राष्ट्र विरोधी गतिविधियों को प्रश्रय दिया गया उससे ना सिर्फ देश के भीतर अलगाववादी गतिविधियों को बढ़ावा मिलेगा बल्कि यह हमारे देश की एकता एवं अखंडता की जड़ों को भी खोखला करेगा, जो कि अत्यंत दुर्भाग्यपूर्ण है। और इन सबसे भी अधिक दुर्भाग्यपूर्ण है हमारे इन प्रतिष्ठित शिक्षण संस्थानों के कुछ छात्र समूहों का इन तथाकथित अलगाववादियों की व्यूहरचना में फँस कर, इन देशद्रोहियों को `मौन समर्थन' देना। 
यदि ऐसा नहीं था तो क्यों नहीं इन छात्रों एवं छात्र नेताओं ने जब तथाकथित अलगाववाद समर्थक कश्मीरी छात्र जेएनयु परिसर में  देश के खिलाफ  एवं अफजल गुरु जैसे  देशद्रोहियों के समर्थन में नारा  लगा रहे थे, उन्हें इस तरह राष्ट्र विरोधी गतिविधियों को करने से रोका। अपराधियों, देशद्रोहियों को राष्ट्र विरोधी गतिविधियों में साथ देना, अपनी मौन स्वीकृति देना, कानून की नज़र में उतना ही दंडनीय है जितना कि स्वयं अपराध करना एवं देश विरोधी गतिविधियों में शामिल होना। अभिव्यक्ति की स्वतंत्रता राष्ट्र-हित बड़ी नहीं हो सकती और हमारे ऐसे राजनेता जो अभियव्यक्ति की स्वतंत्रता के नाम पर देशद्रोहियों के सुर में सुर मिला रहे हैं और अपने तुक्ष्ण  राजनैतिक स्वार्थ के लिए उन छात्र नेताओं एवं छात्रों के पक्ष  में अपना बयान दे रहे हैं, वो हमारे देश की स्वतंत्रता, इसकी एकता एवं अखंडता के लिए, इन अलगाववादियों से भी अधिक खतरनाक हैं।
मैं अपने सम्मानीय मीडिया के साथियों से निवेदन करता हूँ कि ऐसे स्वार्थी राजनीतिज्ञों, जिनके बयानों से ना सिर्फ विघटनकारी तत्वों को बल मिलता हैं बल्कि देश की एकता एवं अखंडता को नुक्सान पहुँचता है, को समाचारों में को महत्व ना देकर राष्ट्र हित में इन्हें बहिष्कृत करें। जेएनयु एवं जाधवपुर विश्विद्यालय जैसे प्रतिष्ठित शिक्षण संस्थान देश के नागरिकों के टैक्स से चलता है और इन शिक्षा के मंदिरों में देशद्रोही गतिविधियाँ कतई बर्दास्त नहीं की जा सकती। देश में असहिष्णुता की बात करने वाले इन राजनेताओं ने जिस तरह से पिछले कुछ दिनों से देश के खिलाफ नारा लगाने वालों के पक्ष में अपना बयान देकर देश की सहिष्णुता की सीमा को उसकी पराकाष्ठा तक पहुंचा दिया है, अब  वे देश के सहिष्णुता की और अधिक परीक्षा ना लें।  यह दुर्भाग्य है कि इन नेताओं  को शहीद हनुमनथप्पा जैसे देश के वीर जवानों की शहादत, देश के किसानों की आत्महत्या, बाछड़ा समाज की गुलामी एवं शहीद परिवारों का दर्द उतना मर्माहत नहीं करती जितना की कन्हैया जैसे छात्र नेताओं का देशद्रोहियों का साथ देने के लिए उसका जेल जाना। देश का यह दुर्भाग्य है कि अफजल गुरु के फांसी को शहादत दिवस के रूप में  मानाने वालों को  देश की रक्षा में अपने प्राण न्योछावर करने वाले वीर शहीदों की शहादत मर्माहत नहीं करती। देशविरोधी हरकतें करने वालों जेएनयू  छात्रों का ध्यान देश के शहीद लांसनायक हनुमनथप्पा की ९  वीर सपूतों पर नहीं गया जिन्होंने सियाचिन में अपने प्राणों की आहूति दे दी। जेएयू के इन तथाकथित पढ़े-लिखे बुद्धिजीवियों में से किसी ने भी, इतनी ज़हमत नहीं उठाई कि ये उन १०  शहीदों की शान में दो शब्द कह सकें। शहीदों ने  देश और देशद्रोह  करने वालों जेएनयू  छात्रों के लिए भी 35 फुट ऊंची बर्फ की दीवार का बोझ 6 दिनों तक अपने शरीर पर झेला लेकिन इन लोगों ने ये कहकर इनकी शहादत का मज़ाक उड़ा दिया कि कश्मीर भारत का हिस्सा है ही नहीं।  
देश के यह वीर भारत माता की जय का नारा लगते   हुए शहीद हुए और जेएनयू जैसे प्रतिष्ठति शिक्षण संस्थानों का एक छात्र समूह एवं उनका नेता पाकिस्तान जिंदाबाद एवं भारत की बर्बादी के नारे लगाने वालों की जमात में सम्मिलित होकर मूक दर्शक बने रहे और इससे बड़ी शर्मिंदगी क्या हो सकती है हमारे लिए |
जो लोग जेएनयू में हुई शर्मशार घटना को  ‘अभिव्यक्ति की स्वतंत्रता’ से जोड़ रहे हैं वह असल में मेरी नज़रों में सिर्फ और सिर्फ देशद्रोह है और हमारे देश की सरकार को ऐसे विघटनकारी तत्वों पर कानून के दायरे में कार्रवाई करता अत्यावश्यक है ।

The Dark Candle

A man had a little daughter, an only and much beloved child. He lived only for her, she was his life. So when she became ill and her illness resisted the efforts of the best obtainable physicians, he became like a man possessed, moving heaven and earth to bring about her restoration to health.

His best efforts proved fruitless, however, and the child died. The father was totally irreconcilable. He became a bitter recluse, shutting himself away from his many friends, refusing every activity that might restore his poise and bring him back to his normal self.

Then one night he had a dream. He was in heaven and witnessing a grand pageant of all the little child angels. They were marching in an apparently endless line past the Great White Throne. Every white-robed, angelic tot carried a candle. He noticed, however, that one child’s candle was not lit. Then he saw that the child with the dark candle was his own little girl. Rushing towards her, while the pageant faltered, he seized her in his arms, caressed her tenderly, and asked, “How is that your candle is the only one not lit?” “Father, they often relight it, but your tears always put it out again,” she said.

Just then he awoke from his dream. The lesson was crystal clear, and it’s effects were immediate. From that hour on he was no longer a recluse, but mingled freely and cheerfully with his former friends and associates. No longer would his little darling’s candle be extinguished by his useless tears.

Moral of this story: Most of us get shell-shocked, depressed by bad things that happen in our lives but life does not stop, it moves at it’s own pace. It is better we got out of our shock and tragedies and move on with found memories of our loved ones who leave us for heavenly abode.

Make screening tests affordable to defeat the demon of CANCER

Statistics  reveal steep rise in incidences of cancer worldwide. If reports are to be believed -- cancer has risen from 700 new cases per million population in 2013 to nearly 1,000 new cases per million people in 2015.  The rising trend of cancer is more of less same in India. As per the World Health Organization, cancer deaths in India alone, were projected to reach 7,00,000 by the end of 2015, the highest annual estimate yet. While reasons behind rise in incidences of cancer may vary from individual to individual, by and large  erratic and faulty lifestyle, pollution, contamination food, lack of physical activity and poor eating habits are few of the prime reasons for growth behind the deadly cancer across the world.

According to experts, the root cause behind rise in cancer that we lay emphasis more on `cure’ rather than `prevention’. If our goal is to decrease the incidence of cancer, the first step must be to increase efforts for prevention, by establishing and ensuring access to screening processes for early detection. As  the screening processes for cancer detection is unaffordable for majority of population in our country, both the governments and corporate entities need to come forward to make cancer screening affordable process affordable for the common men. Besides setting up affordable cancer screening centres, a simultaneous should also be taken by both the government, corporate bodies, NGOs  to motivate people for cancer screening tests. If we work on these two major issues, there is no denying the fact that we can defeat the demon of cancer in the coming time.

Be Enthusiastic: Don't die before you are dead

They say  -- Nothing great is ever achieved without enthusiasm. A life without enthusiasm and exuberance is like a human body without soul. Friends, enthusiasm can do a whale of good things to your life. Enthusiasm and success go hand in hand, but enthusiasm comes first. Enthusiasm inspires confidence, raises morale, builds loyalty! and is priceless. Enthusiasm is contagious. You can feel enthusiasm by the way a person talks, walks or shakes hands. Enthusiasm is a habit that one can acquire and practice.

Many decades ago, Charles Schwab, who was earning a salary of a million dollars a year, was asked if he was being paid such a high salary because of his exceptional ability to produce steel. Charles Schwab replied, "I consider my ability to arouse enthusiasm among the men the greatest asset I possess, and the way to develop the best that is in a man is by appreciation and encouragement."

Live while you are alive. Don't die before you are dead.

Enthusiasm and desire are what change mediocrity to excellence. 

Water turns into steam with a difference of only one degree in temperature and steam can move some of the biggest engines in the world. That is what enthusiasm helps us to do in our lives.
